Andric - Bodyguard to Ambassador Winle, of the Hithostun. Niquani.

Chinda - Fhiro’s nine year old sister.

Creedate - The religious empire inspired by the teachings of the Prophet Avithen. Most Followers of The Calling live in worlds now ruled by the Creedate.

Dorrick - Fhiro’s fourteen year old brother.

Earthmen/women - Humans.

Garglethider - Deadly predator that evolved on Recci homeworld.

Ghorad - Kartnan bodyguard, usually tasked with looking after Imial.

Hanu - Fhiro’s mother.

Hegel - Feathered starfaring aliens. Evolved from flying creatures (and some races of Hegel can still fly. The non-flying ‘toolers’, however, form the dominant majority). Speak common galactic tongue in a fashion that is indistinguishable from the manner in which it is spoken by earthmen and yeal.

Hoppers - A starfaring species of aliens

Hussuf - Creedate bodyguard in Ambassador Reshna’s retinue.

Imial - Son of Kartnan Ambassador Valachrad.

Jashpur - Powerful empire, close to galactic core. Polytheistic religion.

Kartna - Powerful empire close to the galactic core. Its heartworlds are further from Pelorn than those of the Creedate, but nearer than those of Jashpur. It is on the other side of the Creedate from Andelic.

Lizardmen - Starfaring species. Heartwords at the opposite end of the galaxy from the Near Quadrant.

Oljon - Fhiro’s father. Name adopted upon converting moving to Andelic.

Palis - Pelorn imperial bodyguard, in charge of security for visiting delegations.

Pelorn - Single planet nation. The majority of inhabitants consider themselves to be Niquani, though the rulers follow the religion of The Elements

Recci - Multi-limbed, starfaring aliens, variable heights and limb numbers. Give birth to large batches of tiny offspring, of which only a few at most are viable.

Reshna - Creedate ambassador to Pelorn

Tubrin - Creedate bodyguard in Ambassador Reshna’s retinue.

Valachrad - Kartnan ambassador sent to Pelorn

Woada - Giant flying creatures. Genetically engineered, but not based on avian DNA

Yeal - Humanoid but scale-skinned starfaring species. Speak common galactic tongue in a fashion indistinguishable from humans (earthmen) and hegel. Often share worlds with earthmen and hegel.

The Calling - The religion to which Fhiro’s family belongs.
